The publication is the result of a meeting held in October 2017 at Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence, whose topic was Worship buildings and religions, from the Unification of Italy to nowadays. Academics from various research fields and chief of the local religious communities debated on the construction of synagogues and protestant temples in the nineteenth-century Italy, as well as on the present burning matter of building mosques in cities or smallest areas. History, law, sociology and architecture are here called to reflect upon Christian and other religious minorities worship buildings, taking into consideration the fundamental right of religious freedom, which is also freedom of worship, and the right to practise it in respectable buildings. This book is also published in the magazine ‘Il Giornale dell’Architettura.com’, with the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Florene and of the local Association of Architects.
